Adenekan group eyes Ifelodun vice chairman seat

At a recent G10 meeting in Ifelodun local council development area, Hon Fatai Ajidagba, the Chairman of Ifelodun, LCDA, officially informed the gathering that Ajidagba campaign organization  has chosen Dr Ralph Adeleye Oyedun  as their chairmanship aspirant for the upcoming LGA polls.

Hon Taiwo Adenekan, the two terms Council Chairman, we gathered was said to have declared his group’s interest for the slot of the vice chairmanship position. However, ACO is said to have an understanding with the Positive Mission Group for that slot at series of meetings held alternately at both Fatai  Ajidagba house  and at the house of PMG leader’s house Wahab Adigun’s  before the COVID -19 pandemic.

This relationship according to sources from both camps was meant to reach a political understanding between the two groups which will benefit and enhance their political dominance in the area.

However, things seem to have changed since the turn of the pandemic as the two groups have not held any meeting since then. Moreover, the personality and the marketability of Dr Oyedun seem to have given the ACO group the confidence to stand on their own. They believe Dr Oyedun
has integrity and he is a grassroots politician that can win the election for the group if given the opportunity. This latest development has led many to start asking questions if the alliance
between ACO and PMG has suddenly collapsed.

But a leader in the Allied group who did not ask to be quoted said, “Anybody who says Allied group is not interested on the Chairmanship seat is not normal and does not know what he is saying”.

He advised people not to be carried away by the ongoing ‘ereomode’ and wait for God’s whistle.

In a related development, political commentators had lashed out at the former House of Reps member and two times Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA,Hon Taiwo Adenekan in the manner that he quickly declared for the position of Vice Chairman, when political neophytes are jostling for all the positions.

They queried how Adenekan relegated himself by allowing the incumbent chairman took the position of the House of Assembly slot and leader of the House and the serving Secretary to the Council and also collected Adenekan’s ward councilor. A political leader said, it is either Adenekan is politically tired or scared of spending money otherwise, there is no explanation that can justify his style when a non-core politician like Kamal Bayewu who also joined politics from the corporate world later would have even a Supervisor from both Ajeromi axis and Ifelodun .
