Criticism trail Diriwari’s visit to Olapade’s widow

The recent visit of Team Oladipupo Wilson Diriwari  to the widow of late Kunle Olapade, the former chairmanship candidate in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, is raising some dust as some observers suggest that the visit maybe politically self-motivated. The move is seen in some quarters  as a political strategy by Diriwari and his group to evoke undue attention, though Hon Chinedu Ezugha, whom the late Olapade had joint ticket  with  as vice chairman believes the visit is a noble one as the late Olapade lost his life in the bid to make Ajeromi/Ifelodun a better place.

Diriwari while commiserating with Olapade’s widow said that the politicians’ death does not mean that his family and the course he believed in should be abandoned. He however promised to support the family in the little way he can. Diriwari true to his words visited Olapade’s widow again where he doled out some ’widow’s mite ‘in support of the family.

But the second visit came after he heard that another politician, Chief Chima Francis, aka Omo Barka, visited the widow and handed her some more reasonable cash to help support the family and to start up a business.

Opinion has been divided as to why Diriwari paid the visit to Olopade’s widow twice. This gesture has not gone down well with some party members and observers who see it as belated as he was in PDP when the late Olapade was in dire need of financial assistance because of failing ill health. Diriwari ‘s critics believe that his latest interest in the affairs of the family is just to garner support and boaster his political ambition as he is said to be interested in boosting his gun for a seat in the House of Representatives.

While contradicting the opinion of some of Diriwari’s critics, an apex member of the People’s Democratic Party in the local government revealed that Oladipupo Diriwari has been a long time member of the party who has been in touch with happenings in the area even before the death of the politician.

The late Hon Olapade, the former PDP Chairmanship aspirant in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area at the 2017 general election had fallen sick before the election and this deteriorated after the election until his untimely death.

While defending the visit of Chief Francis Chima to Olapade’s  widow, some members of the PDP in Ajeromi said though he is not totally free of the same interpretation on Oladipo Diriwari, but his gesture may  be pardonable as not too deep with politics as he has always been a philanthropist who reaches out to those in need , according to the source, Chief Francis is a new entrant in both the party and politics but  it’s not out of place for him to reach out to some of the party’s hierarchy and get acquainted with them.

While commending Chief Francis on his good gesture towards Olapade’s widow, the Chairman of Ward I, Richard Ajibaye and the Coordinator of the zone, Frank Omagbemi and Ward H Chairman, Adewale Adebiyi Kabiru all expressed their delight.

The Media Coordinator to late Olapade and the youth leader in the zone, Alhaji Jubril Mohammed  praised both politicians whom he said noticed the problem they had before the 2019 general election and decided to ensure  the problems are sorted out.
